    MyDVD and Sonic ShowBiz

As a new-comer I need help please. I bought a SONY DRU 510A. Came with it MyDVD and Sonic ShowBiz embedded in MyDVD. Now each time I need to edit a clip MyDVD sends me to its ShowBiz, which in turn does the job but never passes the edited clip back to MyDVD. I tried to get help from their forums in vain. Help will be greatly appreciated.

      Hi dvsfsep,

I hate these two programs with a passion !
The company I work for bundles them with the DVD-RW drives we make. I have to take a large number of calls because of thier poor performance.

My suggestion would be to get something like Pinnacle Studio or the fantastic TMPGEnc DVD author to make your movies - very simple, yet powerful - or DVD Lab.

In terms of editing, Showbiz isnt too bad, however there are more powerful freeware titles availabel if you look hard enough.

      Good authoring.

Hi. Thanks for your answer. One question please: When I import clips into MyDVD I have the impression that it is dropping frames. I have no tangible proof because it does not give any statistics. I am capturing those clips from an analog Hi8 tape using Winproducer3. This soft does a good job when capturing video. So in a way I am sure that the original capture is good, but later MyDVD drops frames from the clips. Do you have any info on this subject. Has MyDVD such a weakness? Is there a way where I can check whether there are frames dropped?

best tool for checking frma drops etc is Virtualdub. It is also the best tool for bringing in video in my opinion. you may be noting dropped frams due to some PAL-NTSC issue, but I am not sure.

Virtualdub can run a system check to see how your system copes with bringing in video. I can only capture AVI files at half resolution, 25 fps before my system looses frames.

I have not seen Winproducer3, so It hard to know if it is dropping fames or not.
