Did a google search for this error here Obviously, the first one in this selection suggesting defraggin your drive wouldn't apply to you but check them out.

This caught my attention. Have you changed media?
Hi, Ive just bought a new DVD writer drive and am having alot of problems with it. Firstly I kept having 'communication error' when I tried to burn CDs...

The following lines are of interest and/or anomalous:

      "7:11:16 PM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842
      DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1)
      DRM: Beginning burn process."

"Recording mode: Sequential Recording Mode for Multisession"

      "DVD high compatibility mode: No"

      "Reset occurred"

      "(InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)"

      1) What mode are you using in NERO?

      2) UNinstall InCD - It (a packet-writing program) has been indicated in MANY posts, at these and other forums, to cause problems when using NERO to burn

      3) What is your source material that you are trying to burn a copy of?

thank you both for posting replies so quickly. I just started the defrag process and was somewhat amused to find the HD with vast portions of fragmented files......so maybe that was my cause.

After that I will check off the list from the second post....thanks again.

Setarip, I also noticed the Sequential Recording..for Multisession. Is that message incompatible with burning a Disk at Once? Why is that message anomalous?

Also, the 'reset occured'.. is that the same reset as referred to here ? Thanks in advance

You're welcome. Curious that you're finding vast portions of fragment files. Your original post mentioned formatting the hard drive...I assumed that wasn't the problem.

Setarips pointing out the 'reset' message may warrant looking at.

the dvd drives are in my wifes computer upon reformating her computer she brought over a lot of her mp3 files and they were the cause of the vast portions of fragmented files.

So far i have defraged the HD removed the InCd software and attempted another burn with the same results....

I have burned many many discs before her computer crashed on her....only now is it a problem.

Here is the most recent error log...

                Again:

                1) What mode are you using in NERO?

                2) What is your source material that you are trying to burn a copy of?

Not sure what mode Nero is operating in.....In the past I just let dvdshrink call it up. Where or what do I need to check in Nero to be sure the correct Mode is selected?

As for source material I am working on Meet the Fockers, but in the past few days I have tried others with similiar results.

                  Thanks for the on-going assistance.

As long as you're using DVD Shrink to automatically access NERO, it's in the correct mode ("DVD-Video")

"As for source material I am working on Meet the Fockers, but in the past few days I have tried others with similiar results."

Are these original, commercial DVDs or "something else"?

yes the source material is an original.....and I have managed to decrypt it just fine. And it has been my experience that if you can get it decrypted then you can burn it......but that notion has been thrown out the window on account of my recent obstacles....

If your drive is an external one, connected via a USB port, the following is quoted from the DVD Shrink "FAQ" section of these forums (regarding "Reset occured" problems):

"In most cases, users have found that updating the drivers for the USB Controller resolves the issue. Other found a new External Chassis for the Recorder resolved the issue. And we provided a work around in our MMC.DLL file that causes our software to reissue the command till the recorder is free and accpets, instead of timing out so soon after a lack of response from the device. This resolved the issue for some, but not for others. This MMC.DLL file is part of Nero 6.6.0.3 and above builds.

Try to disconnected all USB devices except for the external DVD burner.

As a last resort, after trying the above solutions and others, they finally connect as an internal to the system and all issues are resolved."

If your problems continue, here's a bit of info I posted in another forum. It sounds nuts, so please don't negatively critisize before trying out the 'fix' ... (it worked for me): - quote below -

You're gonna LOVE THIS!!! I found 'the fix' ... and it's surprisingly simple. I kept getting 'fixation errors' intermittently. Changed drive layouts, tested different ASPI layers, tried different media, uninstalled software, reinstalled, etc.. Still, I would get these errors intermittently. And sometimes, one right after another.

You will not believe this. But, next time you get a fixation error, check which FOLDER in Windows Explorer is highlighted. Guaranteed ... it's the FOLDER you're burning to CD or DVD. For whatever reason, Nero (in my case) will NOT complete the cd/dvd if the source folder is being accessed by Windows Explorer.

I happened to notice this 'goofy' event and 'suspected' it may be the problem to fixation errors. Sure enough, I would delete something else and the file I was about to burn was suddenly highlighted in Windows Explorer. EVERY TIME that FOLDER was highlighted, I would get a fixation error. EVERY TIME I highlighted a DIFFERENT FOLDER, the disk would burn perfectly.

Again, I know this sounds TOO simple to be the problem. Remember, next time you get a fixation error, before doing anything else, check Windows Explorer and see what FOLDER is highlighted. I would guess the same would be true for those who use "My Computer" rather than Windows Explorer.

After you've discovered I'm not a 'troll', please pass on the information to others who are having the same problem. I have a few hundred wasted cd's from 'rediculous' issues such as this. Hate to see anyone else have similar headaches.

                          Enjoy ...
