Download and install this freeware program: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Then insert one of your blanc discs and press the button 'Identify'.

                      Then press the button 'Clipboard'.

Then paste/copy that info into a post window here.

Aha, thougt you was not able to burn DVDs slower than 8x.

So the basic problem is that you can't burn them at 48-56x speed (or what the burner is capable off)?

If you can't burn faster with Nero than 8x speed - it sounds as you are using a demo version and the trial period has ended. At that time it will only allow burning at slowest possible speed.

Let me just explain my problem again.i used to be able to copy cd's at 4x speed minimum because i don't like burning faster than 8x speed because i heard it causes errors sometimes, but now it only lets me copy cds at 8x minimmum and i don't like burning faster than 4x speed.BTW I would like to actually burn at 2x speed but it doesn't let me

ive read that i should be burning at 2x, but if i update firmware and 4x is the slowest allowable speed, how can i change it back to 2x????
