It looks as if you still have that same driver installed which is known to cause an "illegal disc error" on some people's systems, even with the best of media. I wish I knew how to tell you to dump that driver completely, and replace it with an alternative, but I do not. Hopefully, someone else with more knowledge in that area might chime in, to see if this is the cause of your issue.

It's easy enough to disable the pxhelp20.sys driver (not so easy to totally remove it). Roxizap will remove it from the lower order CD/DVD device driver order, (which should eliminate any potential read/write conflicts, but the process will still be started at boot time.) After running Roxizap you should be able to rename it to pxhelp20.bak

Alrighty now that we've helped him it's my turn.

I'm having the same problem except I'm using Nero 7. I did everything that everyone has suggested so far and I've fixed my ASAPI. My CD-R (seperate from my DVD-R) works fine but my Toshiba DVD-R isn't working having "could not perform end-of-disc error"

I would guess this was a manual burn, but there's really not enough memory for nero, especially for an 8x burn with usb.

what brand of blanks are those? Sony?

In borderline cases turning off those virtual drives has helped

There are "Playo" but were manufactured by Taiyo Yuden.

I went to go turn DMA on and well, my computer says that it is on.
