I forgot to mention that after I bought the computer I did have a computer guy reformat it. I wanted to keep the stuff from my old computer, (I thought files and programs) but he said I couldn't keep the programs just files. So anyway he reformatted it and put all the stuff from my old computer in another drive. At least that's what i think he did lol! It really didn't fix my problem because most of the stuff was created with programs I don't have anymore so I can't open it away!!

Thanks for everyones help and encouragement! With all your help, I might end up knowing something about computers yet!!!!

Everything is fine. Your internal is the only drive on that IDE and is set as master as it should be. And if it would make you feel any better you can disable AnyDVDs 'autostart' under settings, then under programs tab. I think that your infotool log would still look the same even after you disable the autostart on AnyDVD.
Looks like you have a Samsung hard drive and also a smaller Maxtor harddrive. Maybe the maxtor was what Chewy was talking about as being 'tricky'>

So is there anything I can or need to do? I don't know what any of that upper/lower filters stuff means. If you have any suggestions I am always welcome to them.

          Thanks again,

as long as your burns are ok, then I would go by the old adage
"if it ain't broke don't fix it!"
but when you get enough straws that camel's back is gonna break!
Just dump the sonic, incd and try to get anycd to only start when needed

So far, so good with the burns. I'll just leave it be for now. You know I got rid of incd when I was having problems with my old burner. Maybe I didn't really get rid of it? I'll try it again. I will also change that anydvd, should do that anyway because sometimes it causes problems with older movies with no protection. Let's hope my camel has a strong back!

Thanks alot for your help Chewy and everyone else who offered advice!

I think I'm getting what you meant.

I have a HP also and my harddrive is also SATA
but as you can see it shows as IDE as well.

Is that what you were talking about?

Actually I have two SATA slots and two IDE slots.
I only have the one SATA hooked up to the harddrive
and the one IDE cable hooked up to my two DVD-RWs.
But I plan to set up two hard drives on seperate SATA
and the two burners on seperate IDEs,
all as masters something like your setup I guess.

If you mean dups on my primary and secondary, yes.
But its not really 'duplicates' per say.

duplicate like smkymtgrl in device manager
                          no serial controller listed?

I have had quite a number of different serial mobos(several builds I sold)
                          Never seen anything like hers
