      Hey Chewy,

I noticed your 1650 has BCFC firmware ... is BenQ updating 1650 firmware faster than they 1655 F/W?

Hmm, it's really possible to get better burns with quicker speeds? I've been burning discs at 2x (discs are rated at 1-16X, but I always have followed the rules that slower=better usually); do you think I would get better burns burning the discs at 4x or 8x?

I'll have to give it a try tomorrow.

              Hi folks,

              @ Chewey ... THANKS!

@ NightTran, my 1655 came with BCGB and I am happy as clam with it. I think you can get it from a Chinese site.

@ thesmallelder, what Media is your 16X? If is a Verb or TY ... I always burn my 8X at 8X and 16X at 8X or whatever my mood strikes me ... usually never faster than 12X. But burning at 2X is way too slow. I think the best Rule is either BluTach or someone else that I read and says with Quality Media go at Half the Rated Speed of your blank. BTW, your "Burner" will make a difference also.

              G!

                      Hi Geno,

Q1: Where you say "Software" NERO 4.51.1 ... you are using this just to post your graphs right?

Q2: How did you get only 70% with the above burn ... your PIEs are low ... except the one single one ... even that for 8 is not bad!?!?!? I am puzzled!!!

                      Thanks!
                      G!

a liteon or soup's samsung uses a 1 ecc scanning interval
benq and nec's use an 8ecc

a pif max of 4 with liteon is ~= to a 16 with a benq
both give a QS of 90

a single rogue spike gives a bad score, speck of dust?

the pif totals show about the same, that's what I go on more than QS

looking at the errors and the burn graph, I don't see any indication that 16x
did anything bad, probably a bad spot on the disk

                            Hi folks,

@Chewy, Thanks for the explanation ... it helped me.
Chewy as far as PIF totals ... is that why you asked for any posts to be under 1000! Is that a good number to go by for a "Decent" Burn.

                            G!
