    TYGO2 at 12x

I did alot of test scans over the summer and came to the conculsion that burn quality varies alot from batch to batch (pancake spindles) and somewhat from
disc to disc within a batch. My benq handled -r's better than my plextor and the difference from 4x to 8x was very little. So heres a 12x which has about twice the errors I'd see at 4x on average. I'll try a 16x tonight

        Hi folks,

@ NightTran, actually it was with my OEM 1655 ... and believe it or not the PIF was below 100 as per Chewy's original requirement standard for this Thread's posting ...

@ mc4man, I agree with your observation ... the best burn most of the time is achieved at 4X ... but when you look between 4x and 8x scans ... the differences are so small ... and if I am cutting my burning "Time" in half ... I'll go with 8x over 4x every time.

        G!

I can't believe you if you dont post your scan , I never say retail is better then EOM it just because I like the way it pack and save for sure that it does not shaking alot or may damage inside without alot of buble and foam

            TYGO2 at 16x sort of

Tried same image at 16x though my benq didn't reach 14-16x till the last 20% if that.
            Myself I'm partial to +r's which I'd consider A+<100, A<175, B+<250,ect.
For +r's I've found best combo to be YUDEN000 T02 with plextor px712a, VariRec default, +1 on some batches

                    Hi Chewy,

The old rule of thumb, not to burn any faster of 4X to guarantee Great Quality DVD and Playability without skipping ... DOES that rule still stand!?!?!

                    Thanks,
                    G!

well most of my errors on burns are in the first part of the disk, with the exception of burning too fast, most of my 8x burns and some of my 12X and 16X tests show more problems with the burns when it's starting out at 4 or 6x. Most modern burners and media are not designed for 4X burning.

Burn a disk or two with cdspeed and you can see how fast the disk was burned and what errors are at what speed.

Hi Chewy & Discman ... Thanks for your replies. With my BenQ1655 I have been burning all my discs at 8X ... and when I burn at 4X and run NERO CD-DVD Speed 4.60 ... I don't "ANY" improvements burning at 4X.

@Chewy ... a dumb Q ... I have never burned a disc using cdspeed ... are you talking about NERO CD-DVD Speed program to burn? & How do you do it ... is it self-explanatory?

                          Thanks,
                          G!

geno used cdspeed to burn an iso

I usually just tell it to make a data disk and then scan that disk and it graphs the burnspeed and the errors on top of it

Well until someone gets a new Samsung and does a great burn at 18X I would have to consider this burn the champion is this dare thread, course
I would have worn the burner out before the firmware was mature.
                                Way to go JM!
