Can you guys help me out, I've got the TSST-H653L burner in an HP media machine, unfortunately I've got stuck with the Vista. I've looked at HP for the firmware update, but I only find the 0414 (which I have). Mentioned above someone said the had 0514 or 0614? Where can I find it.

I'm having a terrible time getting good burns, verification is always failing. Could it be the burner or Vista?

Any help is appreciated, I'm tired of coasters.

are you questioning the long times? that's because I started it and walked away, error hits and sits untill I came back. I can't stand to sit and watch another coaster in the making anymore.

This is really starting to piss me off, I don't know if it's Vista, but I would still get rid of it in a heart beat.

I'm looking under IMGBrn "settings" but I can't find anything about the following: "I turned off auto insert notification and set all the AutoPlay settings to Do Nothing. "

Look under Tools - Settings - Write - "Lock Volume Exclusive Access" is about half way down on the left, remove check mark.

Under Tools - Settings - Device - "Lock Tray During" you can lock or not lock during Read, Write, Verify, Erase.

Auto Insert Notification is under Devices also, but that is for the OS, not ImgBurn.

Hi. My machine is HP Media Center m8000n. In Imgburn Device settings I have Disable Media Change Notification checked, Auto Insert Notification is unchecked, all 4 "Lock Tray During..." are checked. Under General Tab in Imgburn Shell Extensions AutoPlay - Blank CD/DVD and DVD boxes are both unchecked.

In the Vista OS I set the drives Region Code to 1 and then set all the AutoPlay options to Do Nothing.

My machine came out a bit later so I'm thinking too that the Vista on this machine may have a few more fixes. After all the tweaking it seems like the drive doesn't make coasters but for any video I'm really concerned about getting a good burn I lob it over the Lan to my machine with the LG burner. If I didn't have another machine with a burner I'd consider getting a better drive... but I hate to open boxes anymore. I've gotten fat and lazy.

Hope some of these settings prove useful. Seems they scrambled all the damn settings in Control Panel around so instead of hunting for stuff I just google on everything. Like "Vista Flicker" to find the user interface settings
                            that cause flicker etc..

Other than the burner I love this AMD machine. It's a shame they had to put such a mediocre drive in the thing.

Oh yeah I forgot about the firmware update. My drive came with 0514
firmware revision. When I searched the HP site all I could find was
version 0414 for download. Kind of strange.

Man, you guys, I thought all this was going to be the answer to many prayers. But just as I feared, same freakin deal, same errors. I know I used the oh, not so recommended dvd (a Memorex, CMC) but like I said before, I'm fearing the coasters. I think I'm going to start having nightmares that they're all flying at me, like that scary movie with the chrome ball.

Anyway, here's the log, the only thing that did not change was the "Auto Insert Notification", I unchecked it, and it said It wouldn't take affect untill I reboot, and I did, but it changed back to checked?

Please anything, I'm about 2 seconds from pitching a real bitch to someone and taking this thing back. I'm begging you all!!

Do you think it is still due to the dvd brand?
