    No dvd burners !!!

Hi, I am in trouble again. I have 3 dvd burners, 2 internal, one via USB All get the 'quick flash' on start up. All show up on 'My Computer' BUT NONE OF THEM WILL READ OR WRITE !!! All show as good in device manager.
One started this a couple of weeks earlier so I bought a new one thinking OK its had its life, replace it. Now none work I am lost.
Have deleted one at a time and let XP reinstall them, still no go.
No new hardware added recently, no crashes etc. All have plenty of region changes left.although just one was region one for ripping purposes.
Any suggestions welcome before I get anoyed and get my hammer out !!!

    Thanks.

I've never had multiple burners in a system. I'm not sure what you are up against. Is there the possibility to connect the data cable to a different burner or bypass the first in the chain to see if you can locate where the problem starts?

Only other thing I can suggest is try other more hardware-oriented forums if you haven't already. Myself I've only inserted expansion cards, other than installing a SCSI CDROM in my ancient 486 way back when a 2x CDROM was the fastest thing around!
