It's the best DVD software in the world. It even beats WinDVD.

          - plus as good as it is - I hate the interface! and it still has troubble unencoding a few encrptions here and there.

PowerDVD XP has by far the best sound-decoding, ways better then WinDVD or all the Cinemaster crap.

Picture is perfect in Software-Mode with Force-Weave Setting, otherwise it falls back behind the big competitor WinDVD.

And: PowerDVD *never* crashed on my mashines. Even on the shitty Win98 this player is rock-stable!

Excellent player, with very good sound capabilities.
              Always very stable on W98SE.

Release 4.0 is much better than 3.0 because of sound improvement, and the capability to play HDD backuped DVDs.

I agree that teh sound is excellent, but the picture is v.jerky on my 733MHz machine, that is far more than capable. I have yet to find a good DVD player. WinDVD sound is crap but good picture!

The best! Yet to find any app that covers all the features PowerDVD XP has.

Quite obviously they (Cyberlink and Intervideo) wouldn't bother releasing two different products that achieve the same task if they were the same company, would they?

I was one that only gave it a 3 out of five. I have an old copy of WinDVD which was too unstable with XP Pro but while it was working, playback seemed to be noticeably smoother. Power DVD came bundled with my LDW-411S so I've been using that. I could've given it a 4 out of 5 but I find the interface a little 'clunky' and dated and it freezes momentarily, occasionally.
