Compressing video that was captured from mini DV camcoder

    Hi All!

I am a total newbie with video, never edited anything... So my qustion:
I have a mini DV Samsung camcoder, I recorded some stuff and transfered this video to my computer using Easy Media Creator 8.0 (by Roxio) in mpeg2 format. The thing is that 7 minutes of video took 640MB on my hard drive and it drives me nuts, cos usually entire movie takes that space. Any suggestion on compression or any other better software to work? I work on PC.

That is why nowadays for editing video, people should have a bigger HDD or preferably 2 large HDDs. Please invest a second hard drive for speed and quality too

get as big a HD as you can afford. 200GB seemed like too much at first, but i could use a lot more now
