    What does this mean?

I'm just trying to understand some more about codec's & am asking this question. I encoded a file using the latest DIVX codec 6.2.5. Yet if I open the file in VirtualDub & go to file information it says FourCC Code; (DVX50) DIVX5.

What does that all mean? Did it use DIVX version 5 or 6? Under codec it saya Decompressor Divx 6.2.5 Codec (2 logical CPU's). What is FourCC Code; (DVX50) DIVX5 mean?

    What is FourCC Code
four character code that determines what (or what can) decodes your avi file, and in most cases which codec was used.

    more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FourCC

i'd imagine they kept the fourcc as DX50 to retain SAP compatibility, nothing to worry about
