    Help

I was told to re-encode my .mpeg to .wmv so my Windows Media Player would play the file. Being a novice I don't know what exactly this means. I changed he extension from .mpeg to .wmv and it would not play it either. I need a way to play .mpeg on Windows media player so I can share family slide shows with all family members easily so they won't have to download, upload and convert anything. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

download & install "windows media encoder" from http://www.microsoft.com

its quite easy to use, and you should end up with a file that you can play on any xp computer

        Help

I don't understand all this but I need something to make .mpeg files playable on windows media player so other family members in other cities around the country can play the slide show without having to down, install, all kinds of things. They need to be able to open the media player and play the file.

        Thanks,

use "windows media encoder", as i mentioned in my previous post.

you convert your mpeg files to WMV files. give the WMV files to your family members. WMV files can be played on any windows computer, without installing anything.

i really don't see why anybody cannot click a mouse a few times, and install a simple, very small program . seriously, encoding your file(s) is not worth the trouble...
you can put a program such as "powerdvd" on the cd/dvd you give them, so they don't actually have to download anything, just click 'next' a few times to install it.

as long as they can read english, they should be able to install any program
