"Flat Sound!?!" Thin walls causes neighbours to hate me

    Hi all,

I'd like to know if it's possible to get the sound at a normalized level during playback.

So I don't have to crank the volume up to MAX when they are whispering some secret just before the cyber-genetic-pshyco-killer blast through the door and raises hell with his BFG.
If you know what I mean, I'd like to watch movies late at night apparently my neighbours dosen't so if theres some way to level out the sound volume at runtime (not being me at the volume control) Id like to know.

    Thx

    Ricon

Normalising the sound is what you are seeking. However, it results in the alteration of the sound quality since the dynamic range has been compressed.

I would recommend the use of headphones (or cans) in late nights though. Speakers have no no right to be played during such times.

      more about that.....

Hi ricon. You don't mention the "what" of the playback? Are we talking maybe a DVD Player through a sophisticated home movie sound system? if yes, then I envy you! LOL! But toning down the sound is your only option late at night unless you want to invest in sound-proofing for your home or maybe moving everything down to the basement.
I would consider using headphones carefully. If your system is capable of delivering high-quality DVD you can actually damage your ears if it is cranked up too much, IMHO.

      Good luck and good listening!

Well it's an ordinary DivX, hence the post in the forum DivX > Playback...

Headphones are kewl when Im alone. But when I have friends over that option sucks. When the neighbours comes knocking I'll just play Backyard Babies "making enemies is good"......
