If you do not know that already then the app is probably not for you.

Initially it was written to replace ADVDINFO as that program was having problems on some computers and the author was too busy to update it, so after discussions DVDINFO was born.

There are many benefits for some users but it depends on what you need, firmware hackers and folk with dvd burner use some functions to get media codes from blank media to separate media types, manufacturers, and to see what speed the media was designed for or set for etc.

The drive information gives various info on drives for comparison, peace of mind and lots of other reasons

Blank formatting is just handy, especially for DVD+RW where many a user has managed to fix +RW discs stuffed up by Nero and had become unusable as had somehow been made read only.

The program is becoming more of a toolbox slowly and surely as users ask for more functions etc.

I only started writing it two - three weeks ago so its very early days yet.

        cheers

            Folks,

I just released DVDInfo V0.55 to the web site.

This should fix the device sort order some folks were having.
Added a VOB, MPG, AVI etc simple player.
            other fixes and improvements.

The player uses DirectShow to render the files and so will auto pick up any installed codec. The drawback is it can only play VOBS if they are unencrypted.

If anyone can lend assistance to me to be able to play them direct from DVD with encryption please contact me.

            cheers

                DVDInfo V2.00 testers wanted

                Folks,

I have now closed off V1.xx and no more work will be done on it. There will be one more release in this series V1.50 very soon.

Work has commenced on DVDInfo V2.00. I have a very early alpha version and I need some testers.

I am looking for bugs (I expect a few) and opinions and suggesions on the new gui.

                cheers

                  DVDInfo V1.50 (last)

                  Folks,

I have just posted DVDInfo V1.50 which contains some significant fixes for some users, especially SCSI owners.

Unless a major bug is found before the release of V2.0 this will be the last in the V1.xx custom dialog series.

                  Cheers
