I use Uleads DVD Factory.
I know how to make sceneselections, but how can I make a sceneselection that lasts for example 5 minutes and not till then and of the movie?

I think you ask about the "sceneselection" as add/edit the chapter in Ulead DVD MovieFactory. After you add the video file (mpeg or avi), you can click on "Add/Edit Chapter" button, it will pop up a window to edit chapter, you can simply click on "Auto" button, then select "Add chapters at fixed intervals", then enter the number you want for minutes length of the chapter (example 5 minutes.) Ulead DVD MovieFactory will automatically create each chapter not less or over 5 minutes. Now you can click "OK", then click "OK" again... the next steps you've already known....

Thanks for the explination.
I know so far to make scenes but, can I also make my own sceneselections for example one scene of 10 minutes a second of 15 minutes and more scenes with diffent runningtimes or does Ulead make in the autofunction scenes of one runningtime you told me that I can change into another runningtime.

That's a little more work:
After you add the video file (mpeg or avi), you can click on "Add/Edit Chapter" button, it will pop up a window to edit chapter, you can simply click on the "Jog Bar" and move it up to the scene you want, then click on "Add >>" button (above the "Auto" button), continue to other scenes. OR, you can click on the time line to "Go to specific timecode", you may adjust to any specific time length you wanted. Remember to click on "Add >>" button after you select the scenes. Is that clear your question? Good luck.

Let me tell you what I did:
I added a video in the first screen.
I activated Create Menu
Must I activate First clip as first play video?

Then I went to Add/Edit Chapter.
So I get the second screen.
Now I go to a certain timecode and I slected Add
I tried to Mark-in (F3) the beginning and to Mark-out(F4) a scene.
(the Mark-in/out buttons do not work).
When I give add, the program adds a new scene with the Mark-out-time en plays until the end of the movie.

The mark-in and out do work in the first screen, but when I select a certain scene in the first screen only one scene is created beneath.
Must I add scenes into that area or in the second screen.

I also created some scenes one after eachother but when I select one it jumps into the second scene.

Sorry for these many questions, because I'm 'just starting with this program.

May you can tell me exactly what to do for creating some scenes of a movie that last a certain time and how to add them into the second screen.

I try to answer your question before I go to sleep, something we can do today, we need to do it. Tomorrow may never come.

Must I activate First clip as first play video? No, you don't have to! it's like the first play in comercial DVD movies, it may play before the menu, so don't activate this option would be better.

The mark-in and out do work in the first screen, but when I select a certain scene in the first screen only one scene is created beneath. Must I add scenes into that area or in the second screen. Yes, you must add scenes in the second screen for this purpose. As I said, you need to use the "Jog Bar" or click on the time line to "Go to specific timecode" THEN click "Add >>" button for every chapter (scene) that you want to create. Create chapters must be done in the second screen.
The first screen is for adjust the length of the movie only (the Mark-in(F3) and Mark-out(F4) are worked, but you need to do it manually, I mean you need to use your mouse to move them !!!!) but if you do that-change the length of the mpeg file, the time encoding will increase double or triple (or more!) So keep the original length of the mpeg file will save a lot of times for you.
If you combine more than one mpeg file, the procedure is still the same as one file. You need to click on the second mpeg file (the one you want to make chapter_scenes), then click on Add/Edit Chapter...Everything must be done in the second screen. Then click OK to return to the first screen, continue with the third mpeg file, the fourth, etc... Try a few times and you will have experience. Actually, Ulead VideoStudio capture mpeg files better than Ulead DVD MovieFactory. With home movie, I capture with Ulead VideoStudio from camcorder, then edit the mpeg files with Ulead MediaStudio Pro. The last step is using Ulead DVD MovieFactory to make DVD files (.VOBs, .BUPs, .IFOs), I love Ulead DVD MovieFactory because it can create chapter points easily.
So if you have a "good" mpeg file, you can trust Ulead DVD MovieFactory to making DVD movie for you. Try a few more times and give me feedback. Thanks. If you still have more question with this program, please feel free to ask me. I'll try my best... Wish you luck and have a good day....

In the second screen, you can not use F3 and F4 for adding chapter points. Just use your mose to move the "Jog Bar" or click on the time line to "Go to specific timecode." The second screen is for creating chapter points, not for changing the length of the mpeg file. So, I think I did answer all of your question. Hope you will be happy. I've tried these things, but I may sound strange, I just can't make chapters/scenes which last for example 1 chapter at 10 minutes the second of 15 minutes and so on.
I mean several chapter/scenes with diffent lenghts.

Yes I would be much easier, but I living in the Netherlands (Europe), so I can't drop by.

In the first sceen I can add the movie and make it for example 10 minutes.
When I add the movie again I can make another scene of 15 minutes.
But in the preview they both play automaticly, without returning to the menu.

When I add just one movie, I still can't get things right to make seperate playable chapters/scenes

Maybe I do something terrebly wrong

With multiple mpeg files you insert in the first screen, it's hard to setup the timeline for your entire movie. First you need to convert them into one mpeg file only, then you can create chapters easily. Hope you find an answer for your question somewhere...
