Pioneer a104 burner not showing correct media

    Hi all and everyone here,

Ive got a small problem but hasnt every one!

I have a Pioneer A104 Burner and i wish to back up some of my dvds but when i look at the burner in window it shows me that its Audio CD with very much less size than 4.7gb, it mainly shows 1.9gb but it has shown 680mb and not a DVD-R /RW with 4.7gb.

ive tried to burn with nero 6 but the burn icon does not light up so i cant burn! it must have something to do with it thinking theres a audio cd in the burner when there is not!

Ive windows 98se updated and the Burners firmware has also been updated.

Has anyone any idea how to sort this Stupid Problem?

Can the drive read an original dvd?
Insert an original dvd then click on this drive in the"my computer box" does it show the true file size?
Also win 98 is not great for dealing with dvd size files anything over 4 gig is split you may be getting reading from the smaller file split.
XP is ideal for dvd sized files and i recommend you get upgraded to it.

If you haven't as yet done so, play a COMMERCIAL DVD in the burner. This will allow it to establish a region for the burner...

Your drive is gone..phone pioneer Uk and get a returns number, they can be stuborn so if they ask for a receipt etc say you got it from a firm at a comp fair and you cannot get hold them.
Make up a recipt if you haven't got one!
