    archos divx recorder problems

    Hi There,

I have an Archos AV-140 Multimedia Jukebox with a Digital Video Recorder module. I use this to record from my Sky+ box. The quality is acceptable but I have found that at sporadic moments the motion can get very jerky, so much so that it makes it very hard to watch.

Indeed the motion is not great anyway and the picture does seem quite degraded when you route live tv through the unit and jerkier than when it goes straight to the TV.

I know there is a 'number of pictures' setting on the Archos machine but I have set this to high and the motion quality is decent most of the time but not as smooth as I would like. Films look ok, but anyting fast action like sport really does looked strobed. I have it set to the highest recording bitrate and highest pictures (so the best quality settings), but still find the recorded results are quite hard to watch, and now I've noticed this random severe jerking I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the Digital recorder module.

I'm fairly sure the jukebox itself is ok. It plays back my divx movies ripped from DVD in perfect quality. So it seems that the part letting it down is the add on recording module.

Has anyone else noticed this with the Archos modules? Am I expecting too much from this thing? Shouldn't it be able to record smooth motion?

    Any help appreciated?
