    Panasonic DMR-E80H auto start?

Does anyone know how to create an autostart DVD, with a Panasonic DMR-E80H, that would by pass the top menu and alpha-numeric title?

I want to burn DVDs that just play the movie when inserted in a player, without showing the cheesy menu.

Use DVD shrink to in Re-author mode and rip&burn just the film...

This should get rid of your problem since all disks will play straight away in standalon dvd player and also on PC if your set up right

I didn't understand your answer to Lightimages... I too would like the DVD to automatically start playing when the drawer of my stand alone player closes. Am I doing something wrong when I am doing the re-authoring or when I am prepping to burn using MyDVD program? Could you link me to past posts that will explain what I need to do?

        @Larry Carter

        Hi!

Floppy is referring SPECIFICALLY to using a program named DVD Shrink, and using it in its special "Re-Author" mode to compress only the movie, without any menu.

Yes, I too am using DVD Shrink. I have a new 2 layer <ST1DVD</ST1 that contains a black & white version and a colorized version of Heidi on the same DVD. Using the DVD Shrink Re-Authoring Procedure, I pulled just the colorized version off of the original DVD. I even made sure that I didn’t pull the menus off of the original DVD. On my desktop computer, I play back what is now on my hard drive using the Windows Media Player to ensure no menus are present. Everything looks great. However, after I burn the files onto a single layer DVD-R or DVD-RW, neither DVD will auto play when loaded into my stand alone DVD player. Using my remote, I have to arrow across & down the file names on the TV screen and then press enter to start the movie. I would like my granddaughter to be able to slam the DVD into the player, shut the drawer and watch the DVD without me having to mess with the remote to start the movie. Is that possible or am I expecting too much from a free program?

I figured out my problem. Below, is my step by step method...

Place original DVD into DVD Burner (Drive-G)

            Launch DVD Shrink 3.1

            Select “Re-author”

In right column, select the file waiting in Drive-G

In right column under “Main Movie”, select title to be copied

In bottom of left column, play part of the movie to ensure the correct movie was selected

Open Hard Drive... (F-Drive for me) and create and name a new folder

Leave the DVD Shrink window open but close all other open windows

In right column, select “Compression Settings”

Under Audio, uncheck all Non-English blocks

            Under Subpicture, uncheck ALL blocks

In top tool bar, select “Backup”

            In popup window, select “Browse”

Find and select the newly named folder and click OK

In popup window, click OK again

Encoding window will popup and play entire movie for 30-45 min. at high speed.

“Drive-G” activity LED will illuminate and DVD will run for the entire encoding process

When encoding process is complete, close DVD Shrink program

Remove original DVD from DVD Burner (Drive-G)

Place a blank DVD into the Sony DVD burner (Drive-G)

Open Roxio Project Selector… arrow over to “Make A Data CD”

Arrow down to and select “Data DVD Project

            Select “F-Drive” in left column

Drag & drop newly named folder into bottom left window

Rename numerical default block located just above the newly dropped folder in left column

Left click “Red” record button in middle of window and begin and complete the recording process.

            End of Steps
