    Check Blank Disks

    Hi Guys,

A friend gave me 50 DataSafe Titanium DVD-R's as he said they don't work with his drive and I have used these for a while with no problems. I tried these disks last night and 2 failed to write and another 1 failed the disk check.

I am starting to think that maybe the batch of disks if faulty but I now can't tell which disks are my working ones and which are his faulty ones so...

Is there a way of doing a scan disk (like Nero CD-DVD Speed) on a blank dvd-r to avoid having to burn and fail.

    Cheers

    Mr E

Not that I am aware of. Unfortuanately, I think you will just have to narrow it down by the ones that won't burn.

You could use DVD Identifier to find the true makers of these discs, could be fakes...

      System
      P4 2.8GHz | 512MB RAM | 40GB HD

      Sotware
      Nero 6.6.0.16| Nero Recode 2.2.6.17b | DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 | DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15

      DVD Drives
      Freecom DVD+/-RW 16B9 (2.49)

      Media
      RiDisc 8x DVD-R 50 Tub (RITEKG05, 0/50 Burned, 0% Successful)

"I now can't tell which disks are my working ones and which are his faulty ones"

At the very least, use DVD InfoPro or DVD Identifier to determine the "Manufacturer's I.D.". With a bit of luck, your friend's gift batch will have a different identifier than your good media...

Thats a good idea setarip hadn't thought of that - I will give it a go.

I did a couple at the weekend that seemed to be fine at 2x so not sure if these are the good ones or that 2x is the fastest I should go with these.

          Thanks

Also another question. What is a C1/C2 - P0/P1 test in Nero CD/DVD Speed. I run the surface scan and get 100% good all green and then I run the C1/C2 test and get loads of damaged and a few bad - does this mean the disk is damaged?
