    .AVI files problem

I'm trying to play LOTR .AVI files on Radlight, microDVD and Windows Media player (the file played ok on Divx player 2.0 Alpha.)
but I always get the following error msg.:

invalid audio but not signaling an error.

    At line 483 of e:\dx8_2\multimedia\dshow\filterus\avi\avimsr\avii ndex.cpp

    Continue? (Cancel to debug)

If i click yes, the same message appears again, if i click no, Radlight crashes, if i click cancel it says that radlight caused an error on kernel32.dll

What should I do? Change codecs? Already switched from 5 to 3.11 and the problem remains...

    Specs:

    Pentium 1 GHz
    256 MB RAM
    Win ME
    TNT2 video card

    Thanks

Check what format the audio is in Virtualdub.

As soon as i started VirtualDub it gave me a warning saying that illegal hacked drivers have been detected on my system, the following:

Divx low motion/fast motion: Microsoft MPEG-4 V3 video
      - Divx audio: Microsoft Windows Media Player
      - "Radium" MP3: Fraunhofer-IIS MPEG layer III audio

When I opened the .AVI file he gave the following warning:

VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 72569 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unaccpetable, decompress the *entire* audio strem to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 144.2 +/- 31.6 kbps).

      And the audio info:

      Sampling rate: 48000 Hz
      Channels: 2 (Stereo)
      Sample precision: 0-bit
Compression : Fraunhofer-IIS MPEG layer III Codec
      Preload skew: 480 samples (0.01s)
      # of frames: 213428
      Min/avg/max/total frame size: 192/432/960 (91193K)

the file played OK on VirtualDub

      Hope it helps

Nothing exquisite about the video that most systems can't play. Is the problem just with Radlight anyway? Can you play it with WMP6.4 and others? Are you using some sort of beta drivers, like some pre-released DirectX?

I gather you're only getting that SPECIFIC error with the Radlight player. Perhaps this player can't handle Variable Bit Rate (VBR)-MP3 audio...

What happens when you try playing it under Windows Media Player? Which version are you using?

Sorry for the lack of info, but I had the same problem with microDVD and WMP, both 6.4 AND 7

I've managed to play it perfectly on Divx Player 2.0 and VirtualDub

EDIT: Well, sort of perfect on VirtualDub actually, bacause the sound was completely out of sync (on Divx Player it was ok).

If you're seeing this IDENTICAL message when trying to play the video under Windows Media Player and others, it would then appear to be a problem with either DirectX or a DirectShow filter. Perhaps someone with more intimate knowledge of the relevant coding/programming can provide a suggestion other than what I would consoder a last resort approach - reinstalling DirectX. I would hesitate to do this if only one video is problematic...

I've tried the "barbaric", hack 'n slash solution of reinstalling DirectX and it worked!!!

Thanks for the idea, if any mod want to lock this topic now, it's ok!

                Thanks guys for the help!
