GHOSTS! (They post a Question and then VANISH!)

I don't know about the other regulars out there, but I'm not crazy about people who post a question and don't answer a question necessary in solving the issue or follow up to let us know if the problem has been solved. Should we black list them?

IF YOU ASK A QUESTION, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW UP!

    Just wanted some opinions.

I've always felt the same way. A user posts a question, people post suggestions or ask another question to get additional info and the user never responds. They can see the suggestions if they log in or don't and if the suggestions work nobody knows. Maybe we oughta ignore any new questions until they let us know if suggestions resolved their previous problem they posted about. As I've stated before it leaves a big black hole in the forums.

Just my 2 cents, well maybe a dimes worth.

Agreed. So many people just vanish. I have 15000 posts under me at a site I used to Mod at and that was always extremely irritating. What's with people?

I guess some just lack common courtesy. That's one thing I like about this forum. Lots of courteous regulars.

i agree completely, especially with more unique problems.

it would be great if regulars could say press a 'feedback' button on a certain thread where a suggestion was given to a newbie. the newbie should not be allowed to post again until he/she posts once more in that same thread...

That's a GREAT idea. Probably no way to implement it though.

yeah i'm not sure whether vbulletin is that versatile

IMO it would at least partially fill the 'hole' though

When I reply to a thread I don't put all efforts in at the first answer - I answer with what I think will solve the problem and see if they will come back.

If they don't respond or don't try the suggested solution - the thread is dead for me.

If they respond and put some 'I will solve this' spirit into it - I can spend much time in such a thread.

Not when I just ask them to post the log file.

That is a good sign if they will return.

I hate having to answer a question with another question, but it's
often necessary and if they won't take the time to answer, what I loved was
the guy in the last few days that posted a Nero log on his first post.
