for converting 2 dvd u ned da dvd ram... pretty expensive. Just try this:
buy a framegrapper-card... that will give you a .avi File on your HDD, but its pretty big (but good quality (u dont get this qualitiy using a TV-Card!!). Then encode the avi with some tools and make a VCD of it, so your dvd player can handle it (and u can use your normal cd-writer!)

    have fun.
There is always a way u can handle it...

since vhs and vcd are very restricted in terms of resolution and thus their quality is poor anyway, i would NOT recommend expensive hardware.

any tv-in will do a good job if you do a decent job when capturing!!

i.e. selecting a proper codec (like mjpeg picvideo2 for the first go and then transcoding this format into mpeg via virtualdub later on), picking a decent resolution, and last but not least using a good de-interlacer!!

the only tool, you'll need is virtualdub!

good de-interlacer are Donald Grafts TELECIDE 1.1 and Gunnar Thalins Area Based

You need a real-time MPEG-2 encode card, such as Dazzle Digital Video Creator II, a DVD-R burner, and DVD-R disc. That's all.
