    CCE final files too big (11GB)

    OK, I'm starting with The Legend of Zorro, original files as ripped by DVD Decrypter are 7.44GB. I'd never used DVD-RB before as I usually use DVD Shrink, but this disc has ARccOS protection. I tried encoding with CCE (CCE SP 2.67) but ended up with the final files adding up to 11GB.

    I tried searching on here and the only thing I was able to find relating to the output size was adding these two lines to rebuilder.ini:
    target_sectors=2265000
    min_bitrate=300
    (only added min_bitsize since they talked about both of these lines together, not because I think ther min_bitsize will affect the output size).

    I tried it again and got the same output file size. I searched some more and then realized that I had v2.67 (for some reason I thought I had v2.70) so I download eclcce.exe and pointed it to the cee executable and pointed DVD-RB to the ecl file. When I tried it again when it got to the encoding part it opened up a CCE window but I couldn't figure out what input it wanted from me so I had to close it and abort. I do have the "Run encoders minimized" selected so I thought it should run all on it's own.

    I then tried switching to the HC encoder and it worked fine, gave me a 4.31GB output (I think I'll increase the target sector a little to get a bigger output). So DVD-RB seems to be setup propoerly, but there's still something wrong with my CCE settings somewhere.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    You will never get it right unless you remove the ARccOS protection.
    Find more about how to do it here

      since hc did the job, we dont need to discuss whether or not arccos has been eliminated or not

      it pretty much looks like cce is not encoding at all and produced some sort of uncompressed material

      go through my guide or cynthia's again in order to make sure you have picked all the right options for different cce versions and post a log file

            Yeah, I had already gotten the ARccOS protection taken care using the PSL2 guide on here (thanks for that by the way).

            I'll try going through the guides again and see if there's anything I missed. Or since the HC encoder worked, I can always just use that instead.

              hc is an excellent and FREE encoder so yes, you could use it

              you can take a look at a couple of different comparisons posted here in the rebuilder forum over the last couple of month - they show that hc is only runner-up in terms of speed compared to cce but not in terms of quality

              still your setup/addressing cce must be wrong or maybe even your cce version is sort of f****d up...

                good post!
                another comparison:
                i don't see differences from HC with cce2.5(OPV and 2 passes) encoding LOTR main movie,audio en/port,2 subs.
                cce only win in speed but quality of HC is equal and free!

                Darzog,
                one hint to correct the oversize without encode all again:
                search in RB working folder the .avs that have the "credits" of the movie.
                you can find if easy loading the script in vdub.
                add in that script one filter that give great compression...deen for example.
                edit the rebuilder.ini from working folder and in "Encode_Progress=" adjust to the number of the .avs of the credits.
                encode this cell again(the credits) and you'll get less size only in this file.
                this will work fine!(excuse poor english and mad solution)

                regards for all
                still sending greens(you can't see but can feel)

                  Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to set HC as the main encoder for now and I'll just play with CCE as I get time.

                  Jeo,
                  I will definitely keep that in mind for the future, but it won't help with this specific problem. The output was 11GB and I was trying to fit it on one DVD (4.4GB or so) so just shrinking the credits won't be enough for this. But that was a good tip that I'll keep in mind if any future projects come out just a little oversized.
