    XVid Help

I am currently trying to do some video capture and encode it into xvid codec

So I capture the video with MPG2 at 720X480 resolution using a video capture card with a composite video cable coming out from my DVR Box

I edit the clips using ulead videostudio9 to cut out commericals and what have you and produces a 23 miniute video

What I want to know can I produce either 512X384 or 640X480 22 miniute video with High quality and around 200MB File. Is it possible? if so can you explain or give me a link on how to acomplish this task.

One more thing, I keep hearing to make sure your video is interlaced or deinterlaced how do I know if my video capture is interlaced or not?

your help would be very much appericated

I do almost the exact same thing. I capture at 720x480, cut out commercials using videoredo then convert to xvid at 512x384. To convert the files I use staxrip. Just load up the video push a couple buttons and wait. It will even de-interlace for you if you need it to.

    Download staxrip

This is what interlaced video looks like if it isnt de-interlaced. You will notice the jagged edges where there is movement.

Also I am not sure how high quality you want. But I captured the shield tonight. The final file is 45 minutes long, and 350mb here is a screen shot

It will do what you want. I am just showing you what to expect with an xvid video at a similar size. It will be very watchable, but wont be anything near high quality. If you want high quality encode it with x264 at say 500mb should be an almost exact copy. Staxrip can do all of these things for you, just read the documentation that comes with it if you get confused.

dose that program come with thex264 codec? will it give me a 500mb file or only if want. Have you used Gordon Knot before thats what I am using now. I just want a high quality video with around 200mb file

It will download any file it is missing. Yes I have used gordian knot and it is a very good program, similar to staxrip, just less automated. Again if you are happy with the picture I posted above then just encode with xvid to 200mb. That is about as good as you can get for 200mb

x264 is based on h264 a newer and better version than h263. You can make it playable in wmp if you want. Did you read the help file with staxrip as it covers how to change file size. Look here it explains how to change the size.

Also you should convert it a few differant ways with differant codecs and see what you like the best.
