    *.dvr-ms problems still unanswered

    Hello All,
I have read the archives and tried numerous methods for converting these(*.dvr-ms) Windows Media center files for DVD production, and still have made no progress. I understand that you need these changed to mpeg format to start the dvd making process, but every time I try to convert them absolutely no program I have tried even recognizes them as video files. I know there are several of you out there that are having this same problem, so pleasy try to help me out. I will give the best feedback for replies that I can. Thank you.

      Will give that a try?

Thanks for the advice will give that a try. I think Microsoft made these files difficult to manipulate on purpose.

@sastin: try searching the forum, the problems are not "unanswered"

use DVR Ripper http://www.thegreenbutton.com/downloads.aspx then author to DVD

Nero 6.6, Nero 7, Roxio 8, Intervideo WinDVD Creator — all of these will recognize .dvr-ms files and allow you to edit them into DVD-video. HOWEVER THEY WILL WORK ONLY NON-PROTECTED PROGRAMS. If you want to edit HBO programs, you'll have to pickup a Hauppauge WinDVD PVR-USB2.

This might not be the same as your trouble but I have used *.dvr files but only with my dvd camcorder. The file itself is not a video file all it is, is a short cut after I have built the dvd with DVDfunStudio it is saved as a *.dvr file for quick retrieval. A good way to test it I guess would be to check the file size, mine have never been any bigger than 40kb.
