    Burning Blank DVDs

I am having an odd problem that I am hoping somebody can point me in the correct direction with. Every DVD I burn reports successfull burn in the logs, yet when I try to read the DVD it behaves as if no data is on the DVD.

I have tried different combinations of DVDShrink, DVDFab, Nero, DVDDecrypt. Every attempt ends up with the same result, a DVD that has a written track, but no data on it.

Here are some screenshots from what I do.

When I complete the burn, this is what I get presented with in my browser. Notice that it behaves as if there are no files on the DVD

This is what Nero tells me when I do a disc info on the same disc

This is how I have set up Nero

The source directory that I selected (which nero populated the previous screen shot with. These files were created using DVDFab. I also used the directory one level up from the one selected with the same results

The 2nd page of Nero settings

And here is Nero telling me that it completed successfully

Is there anything more I can tell you that will help?

It would seem you are doing things A$$backwards, recode will compress the files dvdfab puts out, then you use nero burning rom to burn a VIDEO dvd, not a data dvd.

Im semi confused now. Should I do Video (which I thought I was doing) or do data (which I have tried as well).

Another point of interest - I was thinking that perhpas my DVD burner may be busted. I tried just burning any file to a dvd via the windows interface and windows reported an error w/ the process. Though I can read dvds, and burn CDs.

-- Perhaps I didnt post my process correctly, the pictures are backwards.. 1) DVDFab, 2) Nero 3) Coaster

take that disk and look at it in your computer, you have the files on it or not?

Nope, no data on the DVD.

But on the bright side, I did end up figuring the problem out last night. I used a different PC and my backup burned correctly first try. TADA - hardware fault FTW

Thanks for you help though Chewy

your DMA needs to be turned on too.

Explanation of DMA: DMA is an abbreviation for Direct Memory Access, an access method for external devices where the data transfer is not done by the central processor, but by a small special processor called DMA controller. It uses a procedure called cycle stealing, where the central processor memory access cycles are
