    Writing Lead-IN ??

Hi All, I have 2 burners, A Pioneer and a Lite-On. On the Pioneer, when IMGBurn is "Writing the Lead-In", it only takes a couple of seconds, but on my Lite-On it takes about a minute and 1/2 to write the lead-in. Same discs for both burners. Does anyone why this is?? Should it take this long?? I posted the ImgBurn log below. Thanks.

    which ksob are you using?

liteon has been working on this dvd-r lead in problem for quite some time, or so it seems

unless the disk scans bad at the beginning it would seem trivial to worry about 30 seconds or so difference

Chewy...I looked at your link..I'm using KSOB-Stock. Is that the one I should be using?? Or should I use one of the Patched KSOB's???
      Thanks.

that KC4B seems the best but there's probably not a lot of difference

the liteon may be doing some fancier stuff during the leadin like calibrating the laser for a better write

Well..I wasn't going to bring this up, but along with the lead-in issue...I sometimes get "Sych Cache" Errors with this drive at the end of the burns. I updated the firmware to KC4B, but I was getting these errors with the previous firmware anyways. I think it has to do with the size of the ISO file, on the smaller movies, this never happens, but on ISO's that are around 4,430or more, I get this error. Is there any way to fix this?? Is this just a cheap Lite-On burner or what??

sony is an ok media, grade B at best, I wouldn't push them to the edge myself,
at least not past the 4400 mark

that family of burners seemed better with the verbatim 16x dvd+r and then bitsett than with dvd-r media

and often burn better at 8x and 12x than at 6x

was one of the first good scanners that liteon made

maybe a rephrase of the question is in order,

                    What causes it to fail?

The same thing that causes everything to fail...

The drive not liking the media.

I guess a switch to the 16x dvd+r verbatim is in order if he's going to fill the disk all the way up, never had a problem with the sony dvd+r's and 4400MB

So a Sony drive doesn't like Sony media...that's just perfect!!
I figured they would be the most capatable with each other being the same company and all. I personally think my Lite-On is just not a good burner. I've had my Pioneer the same amout of time and it works no matter what you throw at it. I think I'm gonna do some reaserch on LG drives and see if there's any good deal out there.
                          Thanks for the info guys.

Well...I know the Lite-On can booktype and the Pioneer can't. But other than that, I don't see what your saying. Can you give some examples.
