    TMPGenc won't convert

    Hi!

I'm having trouble with my TMPGenc ver. 2.524. It seems that no matter what I do, I can't convert any of the avi files in my computer. Which is weird since I just converted some files last month.

    The error is this:

File "C:\Movie1.avi" can not open, or unsupported.

Has anyone had this error? Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

    Thanks!

Please check to see what type of AVI files you have? DivX, XviD...? Please download and install Nic or Koepi XviD codec and try if it helps

        Hi Shadowofthedark.

I wonder if you've already tried this.

I don't know if you're an expert or not, but personally I recommend you read LT's guide. I found it enlightening.

I already tried what Columbo said in his guide and it still doesn't work. Its kinda annoying to know that TMPGenc doesn't convert Divx videos to MPEG2. Are there any other converters available besides TMPGenc?

          Thanks!

You should have your AVI analyzed through GSpot and see what codecs you have.

I installed Gspot but I didn't know what to do with it.

I ran the Gspot onto my video and this is what it showed:

                Any ideas?

                Thanks!

what? thats what it's used for 95% of the time!

install xvid as ben suggested, go back to the FAQ, raise directshow.

In TMPGEnc,click OPTION/Environmental Setting/VFAPI plugin. Then set the priority of Directshow Multimedia File Reader to highest(usually +2).Now retry to open your avi file in TMPGEnc.

Directshow is already raised, I think since last year.

Installed Nic's and Koepi's binaries. Still doesn't work.

                              Yes.
Odd. Download graphedit, click file-->render media file, select an AVI and post a screenshot of the graph.
