    Internet speed record broken again

Speeds of 9.08 gigabits per second achieved over a 20,000 mile path. That's 1.135 gigabytes per second - you can download a DVD-5 every 4 seconds!

Man I still can't even get DSL. I'm stuck with Dial-Up but I'm glad to hear that they have achieved that speed.

              Regards

I'm changing ISPs soon so that I can hopefully get 8 Mbit/s ADSL (can't get ADSL2 in my area). My current ISP's new 8 Mbit/s ADSL plan only gives 6 GB of bandwidth ... ridiculous considering one of their previous plans had 60 GB (there is a new business plan that costs more than my current plan, but has less bandwidth ... no thanks).

Yes, the new "monthly" 8 Mbit/s plan basically limits you to 2 hours of continous downloads, and then you get pegged back to 64 Kbit/s! And the 6 GB isn't even for all the time, it's divided between 3 GB for peak and 3 GB for off peak (2am to 12pm).

Luckily, I'm on an old phased out plan that has 20 GB peak and 20 GB off peak. I'm switching to one with 8 Mbit/s, 40 GB (no peak/off peak), and it's $20 cheaper to boot. More reliable as well, according to people who have switched over.
