are there any dvd writers that can still be Bit Set?

I read the article on bit setting which was posted some time ago, and a very good article which leads me to the question of whether there are any DVD burners now that work with bit setting.
My older BenQ 162I does and so I am now looking to purchase a back up drive as this one is starting to worry me about the amount of use it has been through.
I go into stores even the small computer shops and they don't know what I am talking about when I say bit setting or Book Management and I go through the whole explanation process only to get a 'blank stare'.
So I thought that I would post here and apologize if it is in the wrong place however I found the ImgBurn description of Bitsetting so well written that I thought that a member may be able to suggest whether or not these new external burners can be bit set.
    Thank you.

i even use a rather new blu-ray (lg ggw h20l) burner for booktype setting with image burn so i should think there still are many dvd/bd burners which support booktype setting

Hi, thx for the reply ! I am up here in western Canada and I do believe that I have seen an HP but it was strictly blu-ray, which I don't use and the other drives are these 'portable' usb types where the hook up is through 2 usb ports. Not what I am looking for.
I didn't pay attention at Christmas, perhaps they blew out these desktop models and are waiting to get more in?
I guess I will have to phone a couple of stores and ask.
      How old is your model?
I won't be using bluray just yet until I have too, so I just am looking for a DVD writer that I can convert R+ to ROM.
Again I appreciate your interest and response.
I did check out Lacie and phoned them in Oregon in respect to their 301483u and received an email back indicating that it was a Samsung SHS223Q?
I have not researched that yet.
Lacie said if I used the Roxio included software with their drive that they believed that when the program was closed that the DVD+R would be DVD Rom , however they were not sure.
I would not be installing Roxio anyway. I thought that I would add their comments.
Again thank you from an inexperienced DVD writer purchaser.
I know what I want but no one understands !!

i bought the drive some 10 month ago but i'm sure we will find some people giving advise for hardware available somewhere near you

almost any dvd writer should be able to set booktype with imgburn - let's wait for some suggestions available in your part of the world
