    imgburn problem

Imgburn is now reporting my dvd burner as ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ (D and the Disc ID: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ-ÿÿÿ-255 It also wants to format my Duel layer dvds. Was working right, don't know what happened. Any ideas?

Do you have a restore point before this happened but that won't hose something else if you restore? Another approach might be to uninstall and reinstall Imgburn. You might have a corrupted registry setting. After uninstall you could try CCleaner and see if it reports any registry issues. I generally don't clean my registry unless I see a problem since it is risky. But you can either create a restore point or use ERUNT to make a backup of your registry state first.

You might also make a note of all your Imgburn settings(maybe via screen shots.. a bit tedious but better than nothing.)

Or it may be something simple like a corrupted font. I don't know if there's a setting to change the font Imgburn uses.

I ran both CC and Hijackthis and the problem was gone after a restart. I really don't know why, only a few registry problems that didn't look to have anything to do with the drive or Imgburn. Same with hijack, nothing I fixed seemed related. Have to wait and see I guess.

Spoke to soon. The drive is reported right. The dual layer dvds are still Disc ID: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ-ÿÿÿ-255. Imgburn still wants to format them. Single Layer dvd's seem right.

            Update.

I'm wondering if my dvd burner is the source of the problem. I loaded a blank +Rdl and noticed the drive took a long time to read the disk. After a few minutes of drive light blinking, I check the drive with Windows Explorer and found the drive reporting a CD loaded. That would account for Imgburn wanting to format the disk if the drive defaulted to a CD as type loaded.

New version fixed the duel layer problem. ImgBurn now reports a duel layer disk in current profile. I haven't done anything else to fix the problem
