    Problems getting subtitles

Hey everyone, i've got a problem and i've searched google and still can't find anything about it. My problem is when i'm trying to backup a DVD that has parts of it in another language, the translations dont get backed up. for example...

Marvel's Avengers has a scene where Black Widow is tied up in an abandoned warehouse and she's being interrogated by some Russians. When they speak Russian, the original DVD has the subtitle translation, whereas the backed up copy does not. I've messed with the subtitle options in VLC Media Player and I can either get full subtitles, (always on, even when dialog is in English) or no subtitles at all. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance,

    Eric.

btw. This DVD I DO own and am making a backup to preserve it along with the rest of my collection before they go into storage.

What program do you use and to what format do you back your DVDs up?

You should use only one of them.
Be sure to untick the "Logical remapping of enabled streams" option of DVDS, and test with a standalone player. VLC has well knowns limitations for DVD playback, and it may have some problems with the subtitles.
