Hi,
I have bought 1 year ago one Laptop Gericom Hummer with Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R6112. Yesterday I tryed to write Traxdata DVD-RW but it seems that the unit cannot detect the DVD.
Until now I have only written DVD-R with absolutely no problems. I updated the firmware from ver. 1030 to 1031 but no improvement.
Is there something I can do? DVD+RW i can read but (normally) i cannot write. Traxdata DVD-RW is the first media I tryed to write. Operating system: Win XP Home+Nero 7 Premium.
Thanks.
your burner might not be compatible for +R/+RW discs.
Product Short Spec:
CD / DVD type: DVD-RW
CD / DVD read speed: 24x (CD) / 8x (DVD)
CD / DVD write speed: 16x (CD) / 2x (DVD)
CD / DVD rewrite speed: 10x (CD) / 1x (DVD)
if you can burn with -RW/-R, stick with that. if you can burn with the brand stick with it. get -RW from that company. you really have to find what your burner likes and stick with it. or try and consult the experts in the general computing part of the forum. http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105
Raven386 is correct. Your drive doesn't support the +R/+RW variety of media. Depending on the media id (not brand) you are having problems burning with, you may wish to go back to what you were using. If you can find 'em I would recommend Verbatim DVD-R. (oops)
Thanks for info. I was used to ideea and through away -RW. But now even it's own DVD-R burned cannot be read any more.
Sincerely, I am no stupid about computers but I am so sorry to have this Toshiba.
