DVD's that have alot of scanlines after converting

I just tried to rip the Jason X DVD and when I convert it to Divx there is alot of scanlines in the picture that weren't there before. It's like how some of the menu videos look when you rip them. Anyone have this problem with Jason X or any other movies and anyone have any way to get a smooth picture? I use the same settings on DVD2AVI that are always recommended as well as the proper settings for Divx 5.03. Any suggestions?

Although I'm not familiar with the specific DVD, it sounds like you've got to deinterlace the video...

Ahhh! Thanks. I'll give that a try. I thought I always had it set to deinterlace as a default. I'll have to check that out.
      Thank ya thank ya.
