    Problems, problems and more problems

    Problem_1

I received the following error from flaskmpeg 0.594 when I tried to convert any dvd using divx or mpeg4 codecs.

    AVIFileOpen doesn't worked!
    VFW-Errorcode:800401f0

That's never happens to me before and the only new thing that I installed was the Vfapi reader codec 1.05, after unregistered de VFCodec.dll the problem was solved. Who is the guilty, the flask or the vfapi codec? How can I solve this without uninstall nothing?
I tried too with Xmpeg and dvd2avi and all works ok, the problem seems to be only between the Aviplugin from flask and the vfapi codec.

    Problem_2

I have had problems using divx 4.12 two pass encoding with dvd2avi (1.86) and Xmpeg 4.5, when the second pass begins the two programs crash. I tried second pass with virtual dub but I cannot get the same quality that I get with the two mentioned programs (mainly with dvd2avi)

What can be causing these crash in these damned and wonderful programs?

    All is running under WinXP.

Greetings and thanks for any help.

    well, don't ever use flask.

look at the board, SOOOOO many ppl with problems and the quality is VERY poor

look at my guides, erci's and UnCasMS's.

NEVER EVER use DIVX v4 and 5, always use 3.11alpha

    why:

file size is LOW and HIGH quality..unlike the other versions of DIVX

    my opinion...

I saw your guide techno and I have tried before a similar method (dvd2avi+vfapi+nandub+divx 3.11) but without gordian knot or any other gui and encoding at 1500 I couldn't get a decent video, nandub has to much parameters that I unknow and maybe I have been missing something. Divx 5 looks good but the problem appears at time to capture with Ati AIW radeon (simply crash) and crash too using 2pass with flask , dvd2avi and his successors, using divx 5 in virtualdub, premiere or ulead I got the same result that with divx 4.12 but again maybe I have been missing something because divx 5 has a couple of parameters that I pass for ignorance. if somebody knows any secret to obtain great quality videos with divx 3.11 or 5 in nandub or in any other program please let me know.

UNCASMS objects???? he now hates DIVX 3.11alpha???? :'(

Ok well, since u r capturing, ATI STINKS at capturing. U will not get a high quality from it.

buy urself a hauppauge WINTV GO PCI (realy cheap) and it will give u DVD quality (or VERY VERY NEAR):

            capture using these settings:

            NO RECOMPRESSION
            YU12/YUV2
            352*288/320*240
            30 fps
            CD QUALITY uncompressed audio

            and capture!

file sizes WILL be big so have something like avi_IO to capture over several files or have an NTFS partition.

Then convert to DIVX or whatever.

guarenteed NEAR DVD or BETTER quality!

I saw the the specification of this card, is very impressive, also includes a remote control but support PAL-N (argentina)? I could not find any information about this in the site.

your going for the expensive model...I recommend the one I told you personally, cheap and HIGH quality.

www.hauppauge.com (if you haven't been there)

get the PCI card (wintv go) but if you want to spend more, then go ahead.

                however be warned:

when capturing DIRECTLY to MPEG, you will straight AWAY LOSE QUALITY!!!!

so use hte settings I gave u and u will be safe

                Peace

                      wrong

                      i said this:

that does NOT mean sbc rips are bad quality - on the contrary.
it means divx5 looks even better to me in some scenes.

Hey, ATi AIW radeon can capture in full screen (704x576/720x480) using YUV2/YUV12 codecs or mpeg1 & mpeg2 without frame dropping and with a very good quality (almost dvd) but uncomperessed video (YUV2/YUV12) consume to much space in disc (500mb every 30s), using divx (only 4.12, divx 5 crash with MMC 7.1) can capture in vcd quality (352x288/352x240) without frame dropping, nothing bad eh.
Is the first time that I use this codecs (YUV2/YUV12) to capture with AIW (what a fool) but the disk consume is a problem, a movie of 1 hour of duration needs 60gb!!!???

About divx: If I have to choose between 3.11 and 5, I choose 5.
Somebody can say me which are the holy settings for nandub to make a good video using divx 3.11?
