quality screws up and end of movie

Hi yesterday i ripped the movie kingpin and it was around 1450 kbps when i finished it. Near the end of the movie the quality all of a sudden went to crap. It looked like a movie that had a data rate of like 500 kbps have any of u ever heard of this before? This has never happened to me before. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Tell us more, how did you encode the movie ? (software ? settings ?)

Something like this would be consistent with setting 'endcredits start' to early in GKnot. Or premature termination of the first pass.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

(Although I'm fairly certain I know what you REALLY mean, I won't presume) Did you merely rip (remove protection and copy to your hard drive) a DVD, or di you also convert/compress it into a different format, such as DivX-compressed .AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, .WMV, .ASF, etc.?

Does the actual DVD exhibit the same problem?
Does the initial rip (before compression) exhibit the same problem?
Did the ripping program generate any errors?

Perhaps if you post the specific procedures you've used...

(I see khp and I have posted virtually concurrently)

ok well i used gordian knot to encode the movie. 640,480 resolution The program didnt seem to generate any errors though. I dont think i ever even used the set credits start button this time. I did every thing the same as i usually do according to uncas guide.
