Help needed , what codec is needed for this flick , mpeg2???

    Hi

    i have 2 flix i`ve downloaded , that when i launch

them in win media player , all i get is audio &

what looks like a pause screen of a small hand holding a Cd ,

Power dvd & windvd get errors & wont play them

i`m quite certain they are SVCD`s , but i have

no problems playing other svcds as i have SVCD Mpeg2

    Codec for Media Player installed

The group i d/l it from , i only got 1 reply , which said

he had same problem , it was a mpeg2 codec problem ,

    & i need another mpeg2 codec . But i`m not exactly sure

how/where to get such a codec . i`ve searched the web

endlessly & all i find is power & windvd players , which don`t

    solve the problem .

i can`t send a screen shot of the filx properties from virtual

dub , since it won`t open the flick either . & obviously ?

Tmpgenc won`t support this flick either .

Everyone else in the d / l group are sending thanks for

    & enjoying the flick .

i`m in a real bind here , & ive received so much wise / helpful

advice here in the past , that i`m certain the answer is

    in this forum

    Cheers -

run GSPOT in order to find out more on the codecs in use

maybe that might point you in the right direction!

and tsunamis filterpack 396 is my number one choice in terms of codec issues (click my upper anigif).

      Thanks UncasMS , but still?????

1st off that`s a nice site ya have

Well i ran Gspot 1.0 , & it seems strictly

for divx ???? I cant get any info except

      filename/size & date . Do i need a newer version

of gspot , & where can i link to it ?

& while i`m here where can i find tsunamis filterpack 396

& is installed right into the same dir as Tmpgenc ?

Thanks for all patience & help

      Cheers -

"what looks like a pause screen of a small hand holding a Cd"

Is this, perhaps, an icon intended to advise you that the file must be run from a CD (and not from your hard drive)?

What is the entire name of the file?

          To setarip

          Hi

That seems like a good idea that the file

may be intended to run from a CD , but

          i d/l it from a svcd newsgroup , & i`ve no

way to get it to a Cd unless i convert it 1st

& Tmpgenc doesnt support it , so i`m stuck again ?

& everyone else in the newsgroup is enjoying

this flick , & the only advice i received there was to

get the correct mpeg2 codec .

The file is a movie , & i used iso buster to open

the cue file , & iso buster default name is AVSEQ01.MPG

(i`m not sure if it`s etiquette to post the actual movies

name here ? ) & windows properties calls it a

InterVideo Media File , which is a new name to me

Thanks for all patience & advice -

if it's a cue file, can you use Daemon Tools to mount it as a virtual drive?

              Hi again setarip

              Damm me

One i unpacked the cue , i deleted the cue file

as i usually do , i the just burn the resulting

to vcd , or use Tmpgenc if it`s svcd , as my home

              dvd wont play svcd`s .

Would Daemon tools be of any good to me , because i want

to make a vcd to watch on my home dvd player , not

              my PC ?

              Thanks again -

My apologies, I meant to say, "If it's a .bin file, can you use Daemon Tools to mount it as a virtual drive?"

Once you've mounted it as a virtual drive, I believe you'll be able to access the files for VCD/SVCD creation just as you normally would...

                  Fanx -

But i`ve deleted the bin file after i

used isobuster to extract it . now all i

have is the problematic flick i speak of

So is there any hope for this now ?

There must be , as i see everyone else in the

                  newsgroup is enjoying this filck

                  i`m still pluggin` away

                  Fanx again

Have you tried simply burning it (NOT converting it) as an SVCD with NERO - just to determine if it's a legitmate/usable file (Playback of an SVCD on your PC can be accomplished with a software DVD player such as WinDVD)?

                      Hi again setarip

                      Hi

                      fanx for your patience

Heres what i`ve found thus far

i did try daemon as suggested , luckily

this flick is a 3 cd post . & i still have the bin/cue for those

i extracted it with Daemon , & even copied that file

to my hard drive , closed daemon , & winmedia player

will play this part , Hmmmmm ???? Makes me wish i

still had the 1st cd bin/cue files (Is there a way to make

                      such , then reverse this process ? ) .

i tried Nero to burn an svcd , but nero

                      wanted to re-encode it 1st , & i never use Nero

for this purpose(Well i have 2x`s with horrid results)

                      & if it`s an svcd , why`d nero want to reencode ?

& Tmpgenc will not support this file .

                      i`m kinda lost again

Any further suggestions are anticipated & appreciated

                      Cheers -

Since Daemon created valid files for you, I can only speculate that either the original Part 1 was corrupt, or that you somehow corrupted it by using IsoBuster.

                        That "Pausing CD" graphic really has me curious ;.}

Sorry I couldn't provide any tangible help regarding the first file...
