good quality for Slayer Anime.. ?

Hello everybody

I'm trying to encode Slayer (a manga in pal format) but the quality is not good
Normally for anime I use for video setting :
resolution 640 X 480
codec divx 5
1 pass quality based 90%
GMC & Bidirectionnal Encoding
psychovisual :strong
Preprocessing source : Normal

But apparently slayer is more difficult to encode

Do you know or have you some settings (virtualdub filters,Divx parameters,avisynth filters) for encoding this !

I hope to obtain a good quality for 200~250 MO by episode

I recommend that you apply some smoother settings on the video. Slayers is quite an old series (first season in 1995, Next in 1996, and Try in 1997), so the video is bound to contain more noise than more recent anime. The preset "animeLQ" for the Convolution3D Avisynth plug-in should work well.

Lastly, have you given the older DivX 3.11 a try? IMHO, the codec works better with anime than DivX 5, though you will need to perform 2-pass encoding to achieve maximum quality for a given filesize.
