How to rip subs from subbed avi files?

Hi everyone,

I 've got some subbed divx and xvid avi files. I want to rip them into seperate subtiltle files so that I can choose to playback them with other raw avi. So are there any tools that can make this? I have found Subrip, but it seems it cannot rip subs from avi (right?).

And, will there be additional trouble if the subs are not in english? I have some tools that can convert/ocr vobsub subtitles into the language I want (chinese), so anything that can rip subs from subbed avi into vobsub subtitle files will be very helpful.

If the subtitles are included as part of the .AVIs, I'm afraid there's no way to extract them, since they've become part of the actual video...
