problem with multiplexing

When I try to copy my dvd to divx the program decodes the video then seems to kind of get lost on encoding, then when it hits the audio it does nothing, jumps staight to multplexing and locks up the program. The only way to stop it is to x it. I am using easy divx .82 and the 5.0.3 codec. My system is a 1.3 duron running windows ME. 256 mg ram and 40 gig harddrive. Is there something i am doing wrong?
