any software can encode DVD (vob files) into quicktime directly with good quality??
(on Intel machine, not Apple...)

Directly, no (that I'm aware of). Two steps, yes. Use the cross-platform 3IVX codec to create your high-quality compressed .AVI. Then use Quicktime Pro to "Export as" Quicktime .MOV format...
