Aopen 1640 dvd under xp

why the hell xp wont let me use my dvd ?!
when i connect the dvd and start the computer windows freezes
and when i disconnect it windows's starting normal.
anyone can please put me out of my misery?

Is your DVD working under another system e.x. windows 98 , linux etc ? If no then there is propably a compatibility problem between DVD and another of your hardwares.
If yes then you must flash your DVD with a newer bios or find an update for xp
Another opinion is what about the version of xp? Is it the official or another ( )?

yes my dvd-rom is working under other versions of windows
i got the official win xp proffesional
and i have an older computer that i installed on win xp
and there is no problem with the dvd on that computer
how do i update the bios?
