    folders instead of logo

when i open the file to see what is on my vcd, there are 5 folders, no movie(.avi .mpeg) logo. why is this? the vcd plays fine by the way. When i burn it and try to play on my stand alone dvd. The folders show on the screen. i have to use the remote to highlight the folder, open that, then press play and the movie starts. ???

That's how VCD's are formated. It's not just one movie file, it gets converted to a different file type and it adds the other folders for any other data like chapters and such.

This is likely due to a problem in burning.

Is that the precise error? Can you post a screenshot or type the full error NERO gives you. This error can be caused by many factors.

Try burning at a lower speed and make sure you have sufficient free space (burning programs may create temporary files).

Have you succesfully burned any cd-r/rw on your system?

If so, you may want to give the freeware vcdeasy a try (www.dvdrhelp.com---read vcd authoring guides) and vcdeasy.org

yes i have. That's the problem it was mpeg or converted mpeg from avi. this isn't mpeg it has 5 folders(cdi, ext, mpegav which is a dat file, segment, and vcd). I just want to burn it so I don't have to scroll through the files on my DVD player.

Well it seems like you have the proper vcd structure. If your dvd player (standalone) recognizes the vcd format you should have no trouble playing the file automatically.

Did you give VCDEASY a try? What software did you use to burn this vcd? Secondly, you can always copy the dat file to your harddrive (if Windows won't allow it, use ISOBUSTER and change the extension to *.mpg if you desire) and then use NERO or a similar program to burn as a vcd.

I don't know what reburning would accomplish since what you're looking at is what a VCD looks like when you click on the drive and it doesn't play. If you have a PowerDVD-type player open it and select the drive with the VCD as source and it should play (unless it's corrupted.) If you don't have a PowerDVD player right click the .dat file and open with Windows Media Player and it should play. If it doesn't play in a stand-alone check and see if the stand-alone is VCD compatible.
