Problems with burning DVD with Nero

I have a few Avi's downloaded from Kazaa which play back perfectly with my media player, so I got Nero so that I could burn them to DVD. Everything was fine until very recently, when my movies began to burn upside-down onto DVD! I've contacted Nero, who appear to be as baffled as me, and suggested it may be a problem with my media player. Since they play on PC, I reckon it could be Nero. Anyone got any suggestions? (Please bear in mind that I'm a complete novice at this sort of thing.)

Firstly, i must say i'm surprised that the people over at Nero said they're "baffled" and didn't know what to do, because many users have been reporting their movies upside-down.

The simple solution is, to encode your dvd with TMPGenc (shareware with a 30-day trial) and then simple BURN with nero - do NOT encode with nero.
