frames are merging together... why???

I have two video files, Darkness Falls and Shanghai Knights. Both when played start out with a green pixel tint on the outsides of the screen. Then as the movie plays some of the frames merge together on scene change.

Does this sound fimiliar to anybody?
I am using the ATI All In Wonder 8500 with the latest DX 9, and I assume the latest XVID drivers as well. Unless there is some that I am not aware of.

Any help with this is appretiated as I do not wish to waste 1.5gigs of movie downloading
