    No Help for flashing firmware

I read somewhere that the files required to flash the firmware are 2:
the file to execute (.exe or .com) and a BIN file
But usually there is an help or readme file with it.
I didn't find this readme file for

    QSI dvd-rom sdr-081 EMR6

and i'm not sure how to safely proceed flashing without sending to hell my dvd hardware

    Can somebody please help me?

    Ease,

If you are running Win95/98, all you need to do is put the .com or .exe file onto the root of your c:\ drive (makes things easier), then boot into pure DOS (not a DOS prompt), using the boot menu. Then simply run the file and that should be it. If you have Win2K/Me/XP you'll need to get a Win95/98 boot disc and do the same as above. Simple. Just DON'T try to flash your drive in Windows, as there is too much danger of Windows interupting the process and f*cking your drive.

    Good Luck!

        Yep, that's it!

Bit of a waste of a CD though isn't it? I would have used a 3.5 inch disk myself.

            boot with WIN XP

If you want the reply for my last question here it is!

"You cannot flash firmware from an MS-DOS Window within any version of Windows. Since you are using WinXP you'll need to flash from a "Real DOS" boot floppy. You can get one here:

Welcome to PuterGeek.Com's download section. You'll find boot disk (bootdisk) images for Win95, Win98, DOS and possibly other goodies as well.

I recommend that you use "winme_plain_boot_disk.exe" as this creates a minimal boot disk without drivers that is ideal for flashing. Put a good quality floppy in your drive and (within Windows) double-click on the EXE file. It will write the boot disk to the floppy. Also copy the flash utility and firmware files to this floppy. Reboot your machine (after setting the BIOS to boot from floppy, if necessary) and then run the flash program as per instructions. "
