cant erase dvd+rw

it was my first time making a dvd from my mini dv cam so i used a dvd+rw so i could erase it after...but after i burned the dvd i can't erase the dvd+rw with anything...roxio...pinnacle 8 ( which is what i used to burn the dvd) or even through windows explorer...im downloading nero rite now to try that but i dont' kno why i cant erase it shoudln't it be the same as a cd-rw

I don't think you really need to "erase" it. When you try and record over it you should get a warning box indicating that the disc has data and will be written over if you continue.
This is what I encounter when "writing over" DVD+RW discs using RecordNow or other applications.
