reformat a dvd-rw disc

I hope this is not that stupid but i have problem to re-format a dvd-rw. Can someone suggest me what kind of software to re-format a used dvd-rw. How I can erase / format a dvd-rw so that I can re-cycle the dvd-rw for burning a dvd movie. Thanks

One more info. , Nero did not allow me to burn the erased dvd-rw media.

don't understand why i need to update the firmware, i am not able to format the dvd-rw disc, can someone advise which software i can use, the nero 6.0 does not come with ??

Exactly what version and name software did you get with your burner ewca?
You can download a trial of TMPGEnc DVD Author. That has an erase in the DVD writing tool but I'd be very surprised if your Nero hasn't got it somewhere!

In NERO, from the "Recorder" dropdown menu, select "Erase Rewritable"...

(Then select either "Full erase" or "Quick erase")

Sorry, I need to clarify that the Nero do have the erase icon but donot have the format icon ..... In the meantime, I already picked the Full erase but the disc is still not be burned. Therefore, I think I may need to reformat the dvd-rw. Are there any trick there, the message dept said that ' please put in an empty media '

If you have, in fact, FORMATTED a DVD R/W, it is no longer erasable...

(For future reference, if you are using rewritable DVDs for burning videos, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to FORMAT them!)
