    DVD Playback freezes

    hi
just burned my first backup DVD (well 3 to be exact)
copied the data to HD using DVD X Copy & burned them onto memorex DVD+R with my TDK 420N 4x DVD burner using nero 5

Put the DVD's into my home DVD player, everything seemed to go fine & looked like they are all working perfectly execpt after about 20 mins into the movies they freeze! i can forward them fine & they continue playback but eventually freeze again.

    any ideas?

    thanks

That is usually a sign of mad media, but I have no problems with Memorex +R's. I also don't recommend burning at 4x speed.

i actually only managed to burn all of them at 2.4 speed.

but the same thing happened on all 3 disks. bit too much of a coincidence to be bad media i think.

the burnt dvd's were recognised as copies (allthough legit backups) when put into my home dvd player, does this mean anything?

      thanks for the help anyway

I have the same problem. But when i use a Kiss DVD Reader it is all ok. When i put the same DVD in another Reader may be that the problem happire. (sorry for my english)
Thee problem increase when i print on my DVD. I use some generic loss cost DVD disks.

NO, the Memorex media you are using is crap and/or incompatible with your burner or DVD player.
If one disk is crap then the rest will be if they are manufactured the same.
Why is that too hard to believe?

Just get some better disks such as RITEKS which I've never heard having this problem.

Tend to agree with ASHY bad media. If you get a bad batch then it is the whole batch not just one or two discs.....I have had this happen trust me!!

              thanks ashy
im so used to throwing the odd cd+r away & never had an entire bad batch. it sucks that DVD+r 's are so expensive. glad i only bought a 5 pack.

              ill try different brands.

not sure if i can use DVD-R on my DVD+R recorder & dont know what difference is. any advice.

              thanks
